Has anyone taken the ferry from Sorrento to Amalfi? Are there different companies running them? I'd like to bus back and stop in Ravello =how late and how often do the buses run? My sisiter and I will be there next week!! Thanks, M

Mel, here's the current ferry schedule Sorrento>Amalfi. There are no other ferries making this route other than what is listed:

And... please carefully note your return times from Ravello-Amalfi. The last few busses out of Ravello will leave you without a connection back to Sorrento. Forcing you to take an expensive taxi ride.

Hi Mel,
Only Alicost has 2 routes from Sorrento to Amalfi at 10:30 and 14:55. Better be at the ferry dock some 15 minutes earlier.
The trip takes roughly 60 minutes.
Do note that in case of bad weather the route could be cancelled.

About Ravello - Sorrento bus route:
the last 3 buses leave from Amalfi at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:20 towards Sorrento
that means the last bus from Ravello to Amalfi you can consider is at 20:35 and arrives at 21:05 in Amalfi. The next two at 21.30 and 22:25 arrive too late to get a connection to Sorrento.
I wouldn't go all in on the last bus leaving Amalfi to Sorrento knowing how crowded they can get. It happened to me to simply not be able to board the bus and having to stay in line and wait for the next bus departing.
for the above reason I would consider the Sorrento City Sightseeing bus; it's a bit more expensive, but infinitely more comfortable (keep in mind that the whole Ravello - Sorrento trip by bus would take at least 2 hours of driving time)
