Doing a day trip to Capri from my base in Salerno. Planning to do this on the last day of August this year. I'm wondering if I can buy a ticket for the ferry the day of departure or is it best to buy in advance? Not sure how quickly the ferries in Salerno fill up. I'd prefer to buy in advance and through the ferry's website (www.gescab.it) you can buy your tickets online, but something is wrong with the link and it doesn't seem to work after numerous attempts over the course of a few weeks. Any advice would be greatly welcome.
A follow up question. I'll most likely buy a one way ticket to Capri that way I can catch the later boat leaving Capri to Amalfi and then bus back to Salerno. In other words if I buy a roundtrip ticket through the company in Salerno that ferry comes back from Capri around 5:00 pm. If I take a ferry from Capri to Amalfi there is one that leaves at 7:00 pm, which gives me more time in Capri. So the question is, assuming I arrive in Capri at 10:00 a.m., will I be able to buy a ticket for Capri-Amalfi when I arrive in Capri or will I be out of luck?
I have never had a problem purchasing a ticket the day of a ferry trip... I would ask the company? I have never not bought a round trip ticket, but I would assume that you would be able to....sorry I'm not more help!
