Welcoming any advice and suggestions for a roundtrip ferry service and ticketing from Peschiera del Garda to Malcesine. I have been unsuccessful in my search. I will be there in September. I also wish to go to the top of Monte Baldo in Malcesine. Not sure if I need to purchase tickets in advance or on the day of? Should I consider purchasing "fast lane tickets" for a specific time to avoid the line?
Thank you for your feedback.
The Ferry trip from Peschiera to Malcesine is very easy. Are you going to be staying in Peschiera or coming from somewhere else? If coming in by train, it's about a 15 minute walk from the station to the Ferry dock, or you can take a Taxi (there are usually some waiting at the station).
There's a ticket office at the Ferry dock and you should be able to just buy tickets when you arrive there. As I recall, there are regular Ferries and also Hydrofoils (Aliscafo), which are faster. I'd suggest taking the faster boats so you have more time to spend in Malcesine. This schedule should give you the information you need - https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/doc/pdf/orari/garda/Battelli%20e%20Servizi%20Rapidi%20Estate%202019.pdf (adjust the PDF settings as required).
For the Monte Baldo trip, I'd probably just buy tickets when you arrive at the ticket office.
No input from Peschiera but I took the ferry from Sirmione to Malcesine. I took the Hydrafoil the fast ferry. If you are going up on Monte Baldo definitely take the fast ferry so you have more time up top. Ken above has the link for you on the schedule and he's had some great input to my many questions.
You can also ferry across to Limone from Malcesine and back depending how much time you have. take the latest ferry back down south on the lake that you can.
Some others places is Bardolino was nice. We walked up to a couple of winery's on the road out of with great lake views. One was Zeni, easy walk from town. Afterwards we walked the lake path from Bardolino to to Garda and trekked up the Rocca di Garda. Which compared to Baldo is just a hill.
