ferry from Naples to Sorrento vs. shuttle

Our hotel (Monica) says we can get a shuttle bus from Naples' airport, but we heard about the ferries...Is there an easy way, not expensive, to get to ferries from the airport? We will be arriving late evening, about 9:30-10pm

Karen, Using the Shuttle from the airport will be a far easier solution. Getting from the airport to the docks while hauling all your gear would not be a pleasant experience (IMO). More importantly, as mentioned in the previous reply, I don't think the Ferries operate at that time of night. Happy travels!

The last Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento departs at 21:41 so that's not an option for you either. Due to your late arrival in Naples, the only way you would be able to get to Sorrento on your arrival day would be to book a car service. That would be pricey. You might want to spend the night in Naples and take a ferry, hydrofoil, or Circumvesuviana train in the morning.

Karen, I forgot to check the schedules when I posted previously. As Tom mentioned, the last Shuttle departs from Naples Airport at 19:30, so that won't be an option. Therefore, it appears you have two choices: 1.) Stay in Naplies one night and travel to Sorrento using whichever option you prefer the next morning. 2.) Hire a Car service from Naples Airport to Sorrento. The cost may be somewhat higher for late night service. If you have a "generous budget" and really want to get to Sorrento that night, you may be able to arrange service with This Service, which is the one Rick uses. Send them a note for further information and a price quote. I believe they only accept Euro Cash. Happy travels!

The Naples to Sorrento car service business is very competitive. Have a look at Tripadvisor for suggestions and ask for quotes. I agree a door to door service sounds like your best and most comfortable option. Here are a few of the most popular. http://www.autoservizidemartino.com/ http://www.gianpierofiorentino.com/ http://www.sorrentocars.com/ http://www.sorrentosilverstar.com/ http://www.seahorsecarservice.com/ Also don't forget to ask Villa Monica, we have found accom arranged transfers are not always the most expensive. A month ago we were charged 80 euro each way from the airport. Edit - a decent hotel room in a safe area of Naples plus travelling costs from the airport (at that time of night I would take a taxi) and onward travel the next day would be unlikely to cost less than a private transfer.

You should be able to get a private car for about 75 Euro. Shop around.
