Is it necessary in late June to advance book a ferry from Naples to Ischia (no car) or can we just show up at the ferry dock, buy tickets and walk on?

Hello,
You may get conflicting responses. We are taking the ferry from Naples to Ischia next week. I did buy mine in advance for budgeting purposes and the ease of having a task completed. I used the Alilauro.it website and ordered them on my phone this week. I did have to email the reservation office after as my PDF tickets were not attached. I received them the next day.

In 2013, we just decided on a whim to go to Ischia one day, and just walked up and bought tickets to walk onto the next ferry.
You will love Ischia; make sure you take a TukTuk taxi, they're a hoot!

There should not be a big problem buying tickets. The ferry's are pretty large and don't often fill.
