Help! We are planning a day trip to Procida in July, and we must depart from the Beverello port. We are ok to travel by hydrofoil or ferry. My question: Is it better to buy tickets day of, at the port, or in advance? It seems that Procida is not a super popular destination, so would there usually be availability in early July? My preference is to buy our tickets day of, to keep some flexibility in our itinerary. Any tips are much appreciated! TY.
The ferries are pretty large. I wouldn’t worry about it.
We went to Is his as well, and definitely thought it was much nicer than Procida.
We went to Procida by ferry from Porto di Pozzuoli, and returned to Beverello by hydrofoil, no pre booking.
Ischia was ferry both ways via Beverello.
We spent a week on the island of Procida and loved it! After we arrived at Naples airport we boarded the local bus which took us to the ferry dock of Beverello. The bus made a few stops in town but the ride was really smooth. We just bought ferry tickets when we arrived at the ferry dock where you will see the ticket windows. We got tickets for the next available boat. We stayed at the Hotel Casa sul mare, all rooms had a balcony and sea view which was really wonderful. Upon arrival on the island we also bought a 7-day ticket for the local bus so we had no hassle with buying single tickets each day when we explored the island.
We also visited Ischia and Capri but liked Procida most, it was much more off the beaten track.
Our hotel was a 10 minute walk from the ferry dock which is OK to walk without luggage ( It's quite uphill which is a challenge.) We took the local bus with our luggage and asked the driver for the hotel; he dropped us off a few steps from the door.
I would love to go again, Procida stole my heart. The small harbor of Corricella is breathtakingly beautiful!
