My husband and I are leave the island of Ischia on May 1, 2026 to return to Naples to fly back home on the 2nd.
Given that the 1st is a national holiday, are there factors we need to consider in travelling to Naples on a holiday?
Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
Doubtful. Just buy your tickets in advance.
Even though it's a holiday, there should still be ferries running. Have a look at the schedules....
Hey! We did Naples Ischia a while back, so a few things from experience 🙂
May 1 (Labor Day) can make things a bit busier, but ferries between Ischia and Naples usually still run pretty normally. What changes more is demand, not availability. I’d definitely book your ferry in advance just to avoid stress. We used ferry hopper (here) to compare schedules and it made things easy. I’d also suggest taking a morning ferry rather than late afternoon. If anything gets delayed or crowded, you’ll still have buffer time. Once in Naples, expect some shops and services to be closed, but transport (taxis, airport transfers) runs fine. Overall, totally doable, just plan a bit ahead and don’t cut it too tight.
