Ferry from Amalfi to Salerno (And Train Station Suggestions)

Hello Everyone -
Looking at taking a ferry from Amalfi town to Salerno with large checked luggage. We are planing on staying in Salerno for just 1 night (mainly to have a quick day trip to Paestum). A few questions:

a) For the ferry: What do you suggest is the better port to arrive at: Salerno Concordia or Salerno Manfreti? We haven't booked our Salerno hotel yet, waiting on suggestions below. :)

b) Can we bring large luggage on the ferry? (Checked luggage size)

c) Is there a cost for luggage?

d) What train station do you recommend we take from Salerno to Paestum, or how best get to Paestum once in Salerno?

e) For the Salerno hotel: What area is best to stay in for quick access to train to get to Paestum?

f) We are heading from Salerno to Bologna after the one night - suggestions as to which train station to use?

Thanks world traveler for your feedback! :)

We just did this 2 weeks ago very easy although we stayed 2 nights in Salerno

Ferry to Concordia
Yes it’s a few euros per bag, you will pay for when you purchase ferry ticket
We stayed at Hotel Montestella very nice newly renovated great bkft and inexpensive ( check booking.com)
Right on main pedestrian street about 10 min walk from ferry slight uphill at start then flat
Flat 5 min walk to train station from hotel

We took train from Salerno Centrale to Paestum just a few euros but get your return ticket in Salerno as the station in Paestum is not manned all day
We took the 9:37 train there is a big gap in service after that train next is 12:30ish
I believe we took a 2:20ish return train
That was plenty of time for museum, sight and lunch

From Paestum station it’s about 10-15 min walk to the sight entrance all flat just go straight at end turn right
Others that get off train there will likely be doing same

We took train from Salerno to Venice next morning 8:30ish fast train (with a stop in Bologna)

Do a search here on forum there is a recent thread on Paestum with a bit more info
It’s a lovely sight very glad we added to our plans
