We just returned from a few days in Sorrento and I just have a couple things that might be worth knowing:
Although Sorrento isn't on the Amalfi Coast technically, most of the town is up high above the water and the last little bit of the road there from Naples is a bit high and a bit winding, although less so than the road down the coast from Sorrento to Positano and Amalfi.
I would just caution you a little about where you're staying if heights really bother your husband. Some of the hotels cling to the cliff and lots of pools and balconies and even elevators feel like they're on the very edge of nothingness.
The road is a lot like Big Sur if you've ever done that. I too am afraid of heights but was actually OK in a private car (with a driver -- I would NEVER recommend that anyone not from there drive!) on the inside and the views are spectacular. Whatever else you do, I do NOT recommend a bus.
Ravello is way up in the hills looking down on everything and the only way to get there is to climb up some very steep and twisty roads. The other two big coast towns are accessible by water.
Have a great time. It's a beautiful part of the world!
