We're going to be on the Amalfi Coast from April 19-23. I'm trying to arrange a tour of the coast. Taking a ferry sounds like a great option (as long as they're running). Does anyone know when the ferries start running? I've read April, but when I try to put in specific dates, I keep getting a message that the route does not run until September. In lieu of the ferry, is the bus or car trip down the coast an issue for someone who suffers from motion sickness?
Ferrys start running in April. Here's the timetable
Edit here's the timetable for ferrys that hit the towns toward Salerno.

It would probably be best to take a proactive approach and use your favored motion sickness medication on the day(s) you'll be traveling around. The ferries can even cause some folks to feel a little woozy if seas aren't especially calm, and will not run to all locations if the sea is REALLY rough.
I was really green just on an o-dark-thirty van shuttle between Sorrento and Naples.
Kathy, because there is so much confidence among many posters here about their All-American driving abilities, would you be willing to say whether it was the curves or the views over the side that made you uncomfortable? Didn't you have to stop several times for traffic (or turning busses) to clear? Did you feel better after the pauses? I remember that there aren't many sudden changes in elevation. And speeds tend to be slow.
But thank you for your report.
Tim, I didn't get the idea that the OP might be driving themselves? I took "bus or car trip" as using the SITA buses or hired drivers but heck, I could be wrong.
It was the curviness of the road that did it to me. And again, this was from Sorrento to Naples and not along the Amalfi; I knew better than to even attempt that one by road vehicle with my particular stomach! Always hoped I'd outgrow that lifelong problem but never did.
Heights don't bother me much so "views over the side" wouldn't have made me uncomfortable.
Only Alicost has 2 departure times from Sorrento to Amalfi at 10:30 and 14:55. Better be at the ferry dock some 15 minutes earlier.

The trip takes roughly 60 minutes. Do note that in case of bad weather the route could be cancelled.
Salerno to Amalfi is much better serviced with 13 trips altogether:

With regards to motion sickness, if you know yourself to have issues with, better be prepared with medications. My friend who doesn't suffer from motion sickness on buses, on regular roads, was toasted by the SITA bus ride. It was also at night, which might have intensified the feeling.
