Does anyone know if the ferries are running yet (this season) between Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi? Or when they start? We'll be there May 12-15. Thanks
They run year round, but with less of a schedule during the winter months.
May is the start of tourist season. you will have no problem with a ferry May 12-15. We were in this region a few years ago towards the end of May and there were plenty of ferries - both fast and slow.
We'll be there around the same tine, I found these Spring ferry schedules to be helpful:
Sorrento to the Amalfi coast
(select English version, then TIMETABLES, SPRING)

Sorrento to Capri:

We were in Sorrento in late September and I was really surprised (don't know why but I was) to find HUGE lines the morning we walked down to get our tickets. It was a mob scene and pretty confusing. Getting into the right line for the right boat was even an adventure. Had a terrific time and a beautiful ride but I would be sure to allow myself enough time to get tix and insure I could find the schedule I wanted. Maybe there is a way to buy them early...a TI or Travel agency in town on the day before so you're ready to roll on ferry day? Have fun.
We just took a ferry from Positano to Capri at 10:00 am with the return trip at 4:25. Just about the right amount of time to spend on capri for the day
