Ferragosto in 2009

I will be in Rome from August 14 - 17. I know that the Vatican museums are closed the Aug 15-16, but do the other major sites (Colosseum, Forum, Borghese galleria, St Peters, etc) close during this time period as well?

I want to ensure our 3 days in Rome are fruitful for sightseeing, but am worried that Ferragosto may render most sights closed. Are my concerns warrented?

All other sites will be open for business as usual, from the 16th, as long as their normal opening hours include Sundays. Otherwise from Monday for sure.
