Ferragosto Day in Rome

Is the Campo De' Fiori market open on Ferragosto Day (August 15)? And is the market going to be open on the days just prior to August 15? We will be in Rome on August 13-15, and I can't miss this market!

Also, are there usually any special festivals or free events on in Rome that day?

Thanks!!

Ferragosto is a funny holiday to the typical American. It is a family day above all. People seem to disappear either because they are starting vacation or because they are going to Nonna's for lunch. The beach will be madness. No stores are open that do not have to be. The tourist sector (Centro Storico) is lively enough because someone has to feed the travelers . I do think a few vendors will be in CdF, but generally the ones selling tourist crap, not produce vendors. They will likely be there the 13th and 14th.

Thank you both! I do want to see the produce vendors, so I'll plan to visit the market on the 14th.
