Ferragamo Museum in Florence

I just saw Samantha Brown's Florence show and she went to this museum. It looks like a dream come true for shoe lovers! Has anyone been? Is it worth a stop if all I have is one day on Florence? I'm going to the Accademia, not doing the Uffizzi this trip.

Thanks ladies, It sounds like a fun break and certainly "art" we can relate to! I'm going to try it. I just googled it and found out you now need reservations and it costs E5 enter. Hm, it sounded like alot more fun when it was free!

I have visited the Ferragamo Museum and found it to be absolutely fabulous! The building itself is an old palace and is lovely. The museum had an exhibit of shoes that was arranged by color and it sparkled like jewels. Never thought that shoes could be works of art but these are. I spent the better part of a morning absolutely fascinated by the displays. When I left I told the managers that I had so enjoyed myself and their museum was a "jewel" that they fairly beamed! If you have any interest in fashion don't miss this one. How many times in your life are you going to see Marilyn Monroe's pumps? (She had big feet!)

This small museum is definitely worth a visit and it is free. Easy to combine this with Pharmacia Santa Novella which is absolutely beautiful and filled with wonderful scents and goodies-soaps, potpourri, candles, lotions, etc. There are no bargains there but you will want to buy something. Maybe someday the convent behind it will be turned into a B&B-looks like a dreamy place.

LOVED the museum when we were there last September and would highly recommend it. It is small so easy to do in under an hour. Also VERY lovely restrooms, which comes in handy!

It has not been free for a long time - unless you happen down the steps and no one is around! But I can't believe you need a reservation - that may be some website hoopla they are tossing around. I have been a couple of times and it is usually pretty empty.
