A little poking around on this board will show you that Pensione Guerrato is very popular here. We've stayed there twice. Here's a photo of us with Roberto, one of the owners. I can't say enough great things about him, his co-owner Piero, the staff, the place and the location.

We enjoyed our stay at Pensione Guerrato. We had a corner room looking over the market, with a glimpse of the Grand Canal. The staff was helpful and the room was clean. I have never stayed at Hotel Aberdeen, so can't help you there.

We have stayed at Hotel Aberdeen in Rome. Unfortunately, we did not care for it at all........sorry! Granted it was several years ago. Perhaps it has been refurbished. At the time, it was old, dingy, elevator did not work. We were only there one night. Otherwise, we would have moved to another hotel.

Ruth, I stayed at Hotel Aberdeen last year, and would certainly recommend it. The room was very comfortable and the staff were wonderful. There was also a RS tour in the Hotel at that time, so that's always a good sign. Happy travels!

Stayed at both of these hotels and would readily do so again. Pensione Guerrato has such a great location and the building itself dates from the 1200's, I think. Just returned from Rome, staying at Hotel Aberdeen. In addition to being a great deal, everything seemed re-furbished, clean and modern. Great breakfast and extremely helpful and personable staff (sometimes a rarity). Only caveat is that I prefer staying near Campo dei Fiori area rather than Termini.

Ruth, my wife and I have stayed at both hotels -- Aberdeen in 2002 and Guerrato in 2011, and highly recommend both. Pensione Guerrato was perfectly situated and run beautifully by the owners.

Very far from sights.....restaurants, etc. Many other hotels in Rome are better. JMO

We were very disappointed with Hotel Aberdeen It was not a bargain at around 160 euros (May). The bathroom was in dire need of a renovation-old and dark. We had twin beds that were more narrow than standard twins. Room was very noisy-we could hear traffic on Via Nazionale all night and walls were so thin that we could hear toilet use in the adjacent room. Our view was of a derelict lot filled with trash. Breakfast was meager at best.Would never stay near Termini again-just too far from sights and good restaurants. Walking distance to Campo Fiori and Pantheon is ideal for hotel.

I think some people are missing the point that the OP is staying at these hotels as part of a tour. She is not looking for recommendations for places to stay, just trying to get a feel for what to expect from these hotels. Have fun on your tour Ruth!
