Feast of Immaculate Conception with Pope In Rome

I am so excited to be leaving for Italy in 10 days!!!

I have been having difficulty finding out where the Pope will be celebrating Mass(in Rome) for the Feast of Immaculate Conception on December 8. Does anyone know where he will be and do I need tickets?

Also, I would like to order tickets from ticketone for a play in Assisi on Dec 6. However, when I sign into the website and try to order..right before I am about to complete my info..it says nonsecure website. I tried to call the phone number but it is consistantly busy.. Any ideas..the play is at Teatro Mestasio..

Any feedback welcome..Thank You. Lisa

Lisa, I have never heard of getting tickets for a mass, I guess you learn something everyday .. .LOL

I thought the Pope did his masses in public on holidays like that, at ST Marks Square??? It will surely be a mob scene.

Do you think you could contact the Vatican through their website and ask them?? I have heard they get back to people in a few days but have never contacted them myself.

When I was planning my trip to Rome in 2005, through Expedia, I noticed, Expedia under Activities in Rome had a tour that you can see Pope Benedict XVI! They still offer this.
Please read below...

Papal Audience From $39.44 per Adult
Be part of a Papal Audience with Pope Benedict XVI. Listen to His Holiness welcome pilgrims, impart his blessings, and lead the prayers.

In reply to the last post about tickets for papal audiences - they are free. Any tour outfit that is charging for them is charging for transportation or escorting you there or something.

Re: Feast of the Immaculate Conception - check Santa Susannah church website. They distribute tickets for papal audiences as a service, and their website has lots of information for visitors, re: church-related activities so may have something there, at least pointing you in the right direction.

The Pope will be at the Spanish Steps at 4p on December 8 for Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Tickets are not issued for this and the crowds will be massive. The Spagna Metro stop will be closed that afternoon and buses may be re-routed.

I agree the tour seems pretty silly when you can go for free! Maybe the tour includes a city tour, like the Last Supper Tour I went on in Milan. But going on your own is best. That price of the tour is pretty steep if it is for only transportation.
Have a great trip!

Lisa,
Go to www.pnac.org & click on the Visiting Rome tab. There are all sorts of links & suggestions for Vatican events posted for the families of the guys at the North American College...a wonderful place, BTW.

We were in Rome in 2007 on December 8th and the Pope
does not say mass at the Spanish Steps but with the help of the fire department puts a wreath of flowers on the head of a statue of the Virgin Mary. I think you can read about this in RS guide book.

If belong to a parish, the priest may be able to help you. My pastor spent time studying in Rome and was able to help me arrange tickets.
