Hello! I will be flying into FCO airport and heading straight to our Air-bnb in Trastevere.
Originally we were going to take the train into the city center and then a taxi to the bnb. However, I'm reading that taxis from the airport to the city center are $50 flat fee if within the Aurelian Walls. It seems for a 2 people it would come out to about the same amount of money (2 train tickets a taxi ride) if we just took the taxi straight from the airport.
But it says Trastevere is not within the Aurelian Walls. Does anyone know how much more a taxi to Trastevere would be? I mean its so close to the city center, but maybe not within the $50 flat fee?
Trastevere is within the Aurelian Wall
Taxi fare is fixed 50 euros

Ok good to know. When I googled it, it said it was outside the wall.
Train tickets for 2 to Roma Trastevere is 16 EUR. You don't take the Leonardo Express but the local regional train.
After an overnight flight, you'll be jet lagged, tired, sleepy, and on strange turf. Take the taxi (or a private car service) and eliminate the hassle -- you're on vacation. Just be sure to use the official taxi rank and not some free lancer who approachs you in the terminal.
It depends where in the Trastevere you are going, only the very eastern portion of the Trastevere is within the walls, Trastevere Station for example, is not.
We have usually just taken the regional/commuter train from the airport, the FL1 (Not the Leonardo Express), for about 8 euro each, then hopped on the tram at Trastevere Station. Google maps will work out a route for you.
All of Rome’s seven hills are inside the boundaries of the old walls, as are the Trastevere neighborhood on the right bank of the Tiber River ( From the link Christine provided)
I read that to indicate not all of "Trastevere' is within the walls
I would ask the landlord what the taxi fare is to the location. It is unlikely you are the first to make the trip.
Is there a hotel or restaurant within the walls that is close enough to walk to your lodging? Get dropped there and walk the last bit?
Here is a map of the area considered "within the walls":

I believe the document is outdated as to fares, but the location of the walls have not changed.
You can take a direct train from FCO to the Trastevere station for about $10 per person. Tram #3 from the station will get you part of the way to the older Trastevere. At a Trastevere taxi stand a half block from the Tiber, it's a flat 50 euro to FCO so I would assume it's the same from FCO to Trastevere.
