FCO to San Gimignano

My wife and I are flying into Rome (FCO) and will arrive at 1315. We are planning on going to San Gimignano that afternoon to stay for a couple of days. I know the trains go to Poggibonsi and we would have to taxi / uber / bus from there. Has anyone done this? Advice appreciated. Two adults with one large luggage each.

That’s a lot of travel on arrival day without even knowing if flight will arrive on time
Train to Termini then to Florence then to Poggibonsi and then bus or taxi to SG ( no uber in Italy)

Consider spending first night in Florence then make your way to SG next day

Bus and train schedules might not even work out late afternoon/evening
Wouldn’t expect to be in Florence til 5-6 pm and that’s if all goes well with flight, immigration and luggage

Private driver would be pricey but is an option (3.5-5 hr drive)
