Has anyone taken a taxi from FCO to the Prati area? Was it ridiculously expensive and how would i easily know a legit taxi from the non-legit?
The flat fee to the city within the Aurelian walls is €48. Not sure however if where you go is within the Aurelian walls.
The taxis at the taxi stand at FCO will be legitimate.
Go to the official taxi rank. Do NOT get talked into anything by anyone who approaches you. Taxis are white, have a taxi sign on the roof and the letters SPQR on the doors. 48euro fixed fare within the Aurelian walls that the driver must accept. Do not catch a City of Fiumicino taxi as the fare is higher.
I forgot to say. You can google Aurelian walls Rome taxi map and then check if your accommodation is within the area.
Thank you both. We are outside the "wall"...it is what it is though...I cant imagine training, bussing etc after an already long journey.
I will be sure to make note about the taxi description
Pandora. Why not get a car and driver to pick you up. www.romecabs.com is excellent.
They are only 50Euro to the city centre for 2 people (just 2Euro more than a taxi). Contact them by email at [email protected] and check what they would charge to your accommodation. You may find they will go to your location for that price.
They have good information on their website in the form of a short video to explain how their pick up works (make sure you view this before traveling).
