FCO to Amsterdam to Boston layover

We are leaving FCO 12:40 and have a 1.5 hour layover in Amsterdam before another flight to Boston.
Is this enough time Schipol to get on another flight?

I understand why you, and countless others, ask this sort of question. There is a level of anxiety involved!

The truth is no one can tell you whether on this day, for this flight, it is enough time. The airline thinks it is or it wouldn’t sell the connection. If this is all on one ticket and you don’t have a pressing need to be back in Boston at a certain time no matter what, I would just go with it. The odds are very high that you will make your connection. If not, you will be on a following flight.

As a rule of thumb for me I prefer at least 2 hours but as mentioned earlier - no one can predict what the airport will be like the day of your flights. AMS used to be easy to navigate and 1.5 hours would be fine but last year that would not have been enough time. You never know though.

We have had 50-55 minute layovers at AMS and, while a little stressful, they are entirely doable. The airport in Amsterdam is very manageable. Just know where your gate is located and get yourself there as soon as possible. If you have to manage passport control, which we did, you’ll be OK. Just flag down an airport employee and tell them you have a short connection and they will usher you to the front of the line. Good luck

You should be fine, AMS is our favorite airport for layovers --- I like a 3 hour layover there but we have only needed it once and that was our fault. Just be aware that you should use a map or an app for the airport so you know exactly where you need to go, walk quickly and do not stop to eat or use the bathroom or repack your carry-on or whatever, and (here was our boo-boo) do not believe the KLM pilot when he says which gate your homeward-bound flight is leaving from. We should have double-checked! Turns out that, of course, both KLM and Delta have flights to Minneapolis (and, I think, also Boston), and we waited at the KLM gate instead of the Delta gate and had to run through the airport to catch our Delta flight.
