FCO Terminal question

On our return flight back to the US, we'll be flying FCO to CDG via Alitalia, then CDG back home via Delta.
What terminal would I be using at FCO & will we be going Customs Control here or at CDG?
Also, the airline changed our schedule & we now have 1hr 20min between flights, is this sufficient if we have to go thru Customs at CDG if that's the case?

Thanks.

I think you will be departing from Terminal 3 at FCO, but you could contact Alitalia and ask them. Since you will be flying from one EU country to another there won't be any customs you need to clear.

Twenty minutes is not enough time to make your connecting flight at CDG for any number of reasons. A suggestion would be to contact the airline that made the change and ask them to put you on a later flight or a different airline. In 2015 Delta change our flight, which would have given us a seven hour layover in JFK. I called Delta and asked them to put us on another airline, which they were able to do.

Alitalia uses T3 and T1.
Check with the airline.
Passport control is at CDG when you exit the EU Schengen area.
The flight from FCO to CDG is an intra EU Schengen area flight and is equivalent to a domestic flight in the US.
Customs is when you enter not when you exit the country. For you it will be the US Customs at your first port of entry in the US.

1:20 is cutting it close. Too close. Alitalia leaves FCO To CDG from terminal 1 and lands at 2F. Delta flights depart CDG from terminal 2E. Even if you have only carry on luggage, you still have to change terminals and go through security at 2E and sometimes the lines are looong. See if you can get on to an earlier flight out of FCO because even if your flight isn't delayed, I don't think you'll be able to make your Delta flight.

Don't worry you are not liable as long as you did not buy separate tickets.
But those lines are long sometimes and slow through passport control at CDG
They will put you on another flight if you miss it or more likely they will delay the flight as you probably will not be the only one on your flight who is checked in standing in the pass port control queue.
That has been my experience at CDG.

2e to 2f is supposedly 25 to 30 minutes

Unless your FCO-CDG flight is horribly delayed, you will make it. In 1h20 min your luggage will be on your Delta flight, and the flight won't leave until you are on board, otherwise they need to remove your checked bag from the plane, because baggage and passengers need to match.

Since you are flying on one ticket, the airline considers 1.20 adequate. If you get a long line, look around because often these will be short line for close connections. Don't be shy. No customs just departure immigration and you can speed that up by putting a little sticky tab on the page with the entry stamp.
