FCO/Rome Fiumicino Hotel suggestions needed

Can anyone make any recommendations for an FCO hotel other than the fabulously expensive Hilton? Like the previous poster, I was considering staying near the Termini the night before the flight, but will stay near the airport if I can find reasonable accomodations with RELIABLE shuttle service. Your help is greatly appreciated :)

I have stayed a few times at the Sheraton Golf Parco de Medici - nice, clean, Sheraton standard...nothing charming ;-) They have good shuttle service into Rome...but they only have one 8am free shuttle to the airport (email them and check though). Taxi was 35 Euro. I have heard the MArriott (in the same area) has more freee shuttles to the airport - haven't stayed there myself though.

Zikes! -- I just Googled that recommendation and a double room for one night was Euro 406,00!! Now I am thinking of just staying right near the Termini and taking an early morning train out to the airport if I can't find something out there.

wow! that's a crazy price I think! I believe the Sheraton was more like 150euros when we stayed last year.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn last May, it was wonderful. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the terminal, maybe 5 minutes away. The pricing looks to be similar to the Sheraton you referenced.

We stayed at the Courtyard on via portuense -- the shuttle is not free, but still beats cab fare (6 euro vs. 10+ euro).

Nothing to write home about, but at about 110 euro a night, it sure beats the Hilton!

Hi Donna,

If your looking for a clean bed, with a no frills hotel then try either the Mach 2 Hotel or the Cancelli Rossi Hotel. They are both near FCO, less than 2 miles, they both have shuttle service to FCO and the rates are a little over 100 euro per night. I stayed at both hotels and either is fine, although the Mach 2 is my preference. Both Hotels have a three star rating. Good Luck
