FCO or MXP to Florence?

Are the logistics and time better traveling to Florence from MXP or FCO? Based on my flight options into FCO and MXP, either will put me arriving into those airports abut 8 or 9am in the morning. The flights are both essentially same price. Upon arrival into Italy I will take the train directly to Florence from one or the other airport. Just want to determine which airport option is more efficient for immediately heading to Florence. Thanks in advance for your replies.

There is usually one train direct from FCO to Florence at 11:00. There is not that option from MXP
Otherwise both require that you take 2 trains.

First, go to trenitalia and check schedules. There are a couple of direct trains from FCO to Florence so if timing matches that is handy. Otherwise you need to take the L Express to Termini and then a train to Florence. And, of course, the same is true for MXP. Train to Centrale and train on to Florence. Florence is actually 30 mins or so closer to Rome. Personally I probably would do Rome.

PS A direct train does not mean non-stop. Just that you do not have to change trains anywhere.

If you get the direct train from FCO, that's obviously the easiest. But if you can't get that and have to change trains, it's still a bit faster to get to Florence from FCO than from MXP. So, if the flight price is the same, choose FCO.

You don't list where you are flying from. Why not just fly into Florence? Last time we flew from LAS we flew direct to Zurich and then on to Florence. Faster and cheaper.
