FCO information

I am looking for information. We are landing at FCO from LAX-LHR-FCO at terminal 3. then need to connect on ALITALIA to Firenze on a separate ticket. My questions are 1) is the airline gate connected to the terminal or do you still need to take a shuttle bus from landing to the terminal, 2) home long, in general, does it take to get from landing to gather baggage, go through passport control and get to terminal 1. I know terminal 1 is close walking distance. There will be on individual with wheelchair assistance with British airways to the front of terminal 3 the. Alitalia will assist from terminal 3 to 1.

Have you booked the tickets?

What you are doing is inherently risky, if only for the reason that if you miss your Alitalia flight, you are basically out of luck and will have to purchase a new ticket or take the train. Typically leaving enough time so that late flights, immigration time, and time to get between terminals is not an issue. If you are trying to time things that close, you are not leaving enough time.

That said, a couple comments. With wheel chair assistance, you will be the last to leave your BA flight, however, there is a slight chance that they will take you to a different special immigration line, which may be quicker. The hand-off between BA and Alitalia wheel chair assistance may go fine, but there may also be a delay if no one shows up.

Overall if you are trying to determine if an hour or two is fine, it probably is not wise. Three or four hours probably is, but still some risk.
