FCO from Rome

With an early morning flight, would it be best to have a hotel in Tradsteverr and take the train from there to FCO? Are there any hotels near the train station in Trastevere that you would recommend? Otherwise might stay near termini

The Leonardo Express leaves from Termini so that makes more sense if that’s the train you want
Regional trains run from Trastevere, not sure how frequent

How many in your party? A taxi may be a worthwhile option.

What time is "an early morning flight' and where does is go?

We stay at the FCO Hilton. You can walk to the terminal or they have a shuttle. They also have a free shuttle into Rome so you can go into town and spend your last evening there. It takes all the stress out of trying to get to the airport and you can sleep a few minutes longer.

We arranged for a driver through the hotel. It wasn’t much more than a taxi.

Just a note to anyone considering the Hilton that their shuttle service has been suspended for quite a while. It's noted on their website when you book.

We just flew out of FCO to Charlotte on August 3rd. This time, we opted to stay at the Rome Hilton, although we have also stayed in Rome for our final night and taken a taxi from our Rome hotel to the airport. It just depends on how early "early morning" is, and how early you want to be at the airport (we always do at least 3 hours).

For timing the important question is --- Direct flight from Rome of the US. That requires exit immigration and other checks. ---- OR is it a local flight somewhere within Europe for the direct flight back to the US. In that case it is a routine, domestic flight with min checks. As a very general rule, if you have an early flight it is connecting as the direct flights from Rome to the US don't leave until closer to later morning and early afternoon.

If you are staying in Rome just one night the Airport Hilton makes the most sense. If you are there for multiple nights then I would imagine you would prefer to be in the city center. In that case I would take a taxi. At that time of the morning there is no traffic and the taxi ride is about 30 min. The fixed fare is €50. The taxi is the most convenient option, and the fare price is a good deal if there are more than 2 persons in your party. If you are traveling alone and want to save then I would stay near Termini and take public transportation (Leonardo Express train) to the airport. The cost is €15 pp. There are also buses from Termini which can take you there for even less money.
