I am meeting my husband in Rome. I am arriving directly from the US; he is arriving on an Alitalia flight from Sicily. I believe I will arrive at Terminal 3 (at least that is what I have read; my airline doesn't show an arrival terminal); husband is arriving at Terminal 1. My question is - will he be able to get to the "secure" side of T3 from T1 or will he have to exit T1 and meet me outside the secure area of T3? He would like to meet me at my arrival gate if possible. Thanks for your help!
You cannot stay on the secured side of any of the terminals. Ron didn't address that as it is fairly common in older airport to not be able to move behind security from terminal to terminal.
No, he won't be allowed to meet you at the arrival gate of an out of EU flight. Tell him to wait for you at the exit point where all other people are waiting for arriving passengers. Or better yet, meet him at the meeting point at the exit lobby after you exit the baggage claim/customs of T3. http://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en-/pax-fco-meeting-point
CJ, Go to a site called roninrome.com. Under transportation he has a very good article that should point you in the right direction.

Thank you for the replies. I have checked out the Ron in Rome website. I couldn't find anything there (or on the Rome airport website) that said whether arriving passengers can go from one terminal to another without leaving a "secured" area. We are planning on meeting at the big orange pole (works for us since we are Tennessee Volunteer fans!).
