FCO Airport problems

We fly out of FCO on Monday morning at 9:15 on Delta. The Delta site says there are problems relating to the fire. Has anyone taken an international - possibly Delta flight - out of this airport recently and can advise of the extent of the damage and impact on delays. Thank you.

I'm not aware of a Delta operated flight that early in the morning, therefore I suspect it's a code share operated by a partner airline.

Could you give us details on your flight number and destination from FCO?

I see an Alitalia operated flight (Delta codeshare) to Paris CDG at 9:15. Could you confirm your exact flight?

Yes, there are delays at FCO currently due to the closure of several boarding areas in T3.

The following is a reply from Kathy that I'm pasting from a duplicate thread to here (the duplicate is being deleted):

The invaluable Roberto has been keeping us abreast of the situation:

You may also want to reference this latest update from the airport itself:

Sounds like you're going to want to keep an eye (or ear, depending on how you keep in touch with Delta) out for any notices they may issue before your flight. Hope you hear from someone who has been through there in the last day or two but the reduction of traffic to Terminal 3 only went into effect last night so it's very recent.

I believe Delta 259 is an FCO to ATL direct flight that is seasonal and in addition to the other daily flight that leaves closer to 11am. However, the time for that flight also changes a couple times a year.

Flew back from Rome on Memorial Day weekend. Terminal 5 where you check in and Terminal 3 area where you depart weren't affected by the fire. Only Terminal 3 arrivals were being affected at the time of my trip.

The closure of Terminal 3 was effective June 11 (per Roberto).

I'm taking a Delta, (Alitalia code) flight on Tuesday, July 14th at 9:15 am from FCO to JFK. I'm hoping everything is okay for your trip!

I want to get e boarding passes on my iPhone. There are three of us on one confirmation number. Will this be a problem at security at FCO?

We have only carry on luggage but can't print our boarding passes where we are staying.

This was a huge headache for us as our original flight to Rome (intra-Europe) yesterday was cancelled. I found out about it 2 days before travel that the flight was cancelled, I rebooked on another airline (so as to keep it a direct flight and to not mess up the rest of our itinerary/vacation), found out the night before that our new flight was also just cancelled but this time with one day notice, and so we changed the flight yet again.

All-in, we made it to Rome the day we originally planned but spent almost $700 more getting here. I'm not too happy about that but it's about 10% the cost of the total vacation so I'm keeping it in perspective.

I flew back on May 28th United to Washington DC, I have written many times what a total mess it was to get out of T3 after going through T5 which is just a processing terminal. I would expect almost anything now that they have closed down most of T3. I don't really think the airline matters, it seems like the whole International situation is going to be very unpredictable at best, so be prepared for anything. I am not sure changing flights is going to matter, unless you change to a different airport.

Wanted to give an update on this situation that I received from US Airways. If you go to www.usairways.com you will see a travel advisory link (regarding the Rome airport) at the top of the website. They are listing the travel advisory as remaining in effect until June 18th. When I called the customer service representative, she stated that they have a notice which states Terminal 3 could be reopening TENTATIVELY on June 26th. She advised however, to continue checking back with your individual airline. Until then, the airline advises allowing additional time to check in at Terminal 5 for departures. Hope this helps!

Just for fun I took a glance at Fiumicino flight info, and it looks like our poster got out on time. It shows Delta 259 9:15 to Atlanta as having departed T5 at 9:17. Yay.

Well hopefully the poster will let us know exactly what happened. Because again T5 is only a processing center after you are done there you then get bused to another area where planes actually depart. We got an email from United but in the end that is not what really happened after we got out of T5.

For our Delta flight at 9:15 this morning, we arrived at FCO three hours early and there were about 100 people when we arrived for various airlines. The Delta signage wasn't very good so we just had to ask where the short line ended. We had e-boarding passes on our individual iPhones but the agent insisted on printing paper boarding passes which will slow things down as volume picks up.
After our carry on luggage was scanned we got on a bus to Terminal 3. We departed a little early and they were using a jetway which I read they weren't using s few days ago.
