I need an airport hotel (Rome FCO) for early morning flight. Any recommendations?
http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/italy/hilton-rome-airport-hotel-ROMAPTW/index.html the above is located on the airport premises. Otherwise you might also consider staying in Rome itself and enjoy your last night in the city. Very early in the morning there is no traffic and the taxi ride from the city center to the airport will be only 30 min.
Stephanie, As Roberto mentioned, the Rome Airport Hilton is about the most convenient, as it's right at the airport and you can walk into the Terminals (or from the rail station to the hotel). However, it's a bit on the "posh" side so be sure to budget for that. To reach the hotel, you'll walk along a long covered passageway, which has some "moving sidewalks" (which may or may not be working). When you get to the end, take the Elevator down to ground level and from there it's only a few steps to the front door of the hotel. Happy travels!
Here's Ron In Rome's very thorough take on your question. Basically, he agrees with Roberto: http://tinyurl.com/3jr3b8z
Stephanie: You didn't say what time you were flying out. I'd hate to get up at 3:00 or 4:00 am for any flight. You'll be tired enough flying home without having to get up 3-4 hrs. earlier. Early a.m. European flights just fly into another European gateway airport where you'll be sitting around until late a.m. flights go out.
That's why I call my own shots when making reservations. I will not fly out of any European airport until after 9:00 a.m. (preferably later.)
We stayed at the Hotel Tiber our last night this October. They have a van that will you off at the airport for a small charge per person. We were flying USAirways so had to go to terminal 5 for our flight, and they left us off right there. Found the hotel on Trip Advisor. We were between staying at airport Hilton or Hotel Tiber, but were glad we decided to stay at the Tiber. They have a rooftop swimming pool. Ask for a 4th floor room with a balcony facing the Canal and Marina. Nice breakfast in morning of 5th floor with view. We had spent 4 days in Rome the beginning of our trip, so decided to stay out by airport at end of our trip.
We have reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn for this Tuesday, our last night in Italy. They have promised us complementary airport transportation even though we have to be at the airport way before their shuttle service begins.
When returning to Seattle from Europe every summer we now fly to the airport that we fly out of non=stop to Seattle and spend the night in a nearby hotel (Ibis?) so that we can sleep in the morning of our return flight and not have to get up way too early for a connecting flight. It sure makes life easier for us. Only once did we try to fly home in one day and that time we ended up getting up at 0400 for a 0600 flight. Never again.
We stayed at Hotel Tiber last May. Nice clean hotel, affordable and 10 min drive to the airport.
Thanks for your replys. I found one!
