I am trying to fax the Vatican directly to see if I can schedule a tour through them. I've read about it in RS books and on the Vatican website. The problem is that I keep trying to fax to the number listed and it does not transmit. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have to fax only during operating hours?

Did you get the number from this web site? http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/z-Info/MV_Info_Servizi_Visite.html Its a different number than the one in Rick's book. I took my FAX to a Staples office supply to send. $6 and one day later I received confirmation via FAX for October 1.
did you dial 011 ( i think thats what it is) the country code and then the number? It has how to dial in RS books.
I faxed during the day EST, so it was probably late afternoon in Italy. I didn't have any problems. I used a calling card and just used the fax machine at work so it wouldn't cost anything.
