Favorite Tuscan Hill Town?

My husband and I will be in Florence for 3 days and then have 2 days to explore the hill towns. We will rent a car for that adventure. Looking for recommendations of favorite hill towns...and where to stay? All suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.

It's completely a matter of personal taste. Do you like to sample wine, for example? One beautiful day can be spent driving the rural highway between Florence and Siena and basing yourself in an agriturismo somewhere there. The towns of Greve, Castellina, Radda are beautiful small towns with absolutely nothing of cultural import except wine and food. Oh, there are some Etruscan tombs about... Siena is worth a day on its own. Park outside the historic center. Farther afield, Montalcino is beautiful - also wine oriented. San Gimigiano has the historic medieval towers. And then there's the countryside itself. You really can't go wrong in the area around Siena.
