Favorite Sorrento Hotel?:)

Hello all,

My husband and I are looking to spend 4 nights in Sorrento (April 28- May 2) as part of our Italy trip. I was just curious where your favorite Hotel or Air bnb in this area is? The amount of options are truly overwhelming. Everyone says to book 8-9 months in advanced so I was thinking the pickings would be slimmer and make it easier to decide, however, that is absolutely not the case. We are both fit and active, can walk and climb stairs. We plan to relax, immerse in the culture, and take day trips. We would love a hotel that is near water/ the coast if this is an option, breathtaking views, A/C, $175-$300/night. Thank you for your help!

I just booked Hotel Plaza Sorrento for 4 nights. There is a Rick Steves discount as he recommends it in his guide book. I always read the TripAdvisor reviews too and look at some of the pics.

I asked in email about the discount and did not get a reply. But then booked it and they then offered the discount. Still a little pricey with breakfast and all. Oh well.

Surriento Suites is one of our favourite stays anywhere. It is right on the water and a 10 minute walk up to town. Pamela is an amazing host and will make your stay special. Easy to take train to Pompeii and bus to Amalfi coast towns. Pamela also arranged a driver to give us a day tour of the Amalfi. Look at the reviews for Sorrento Suites on line.

We stayed at Bellevue Syrene and it was totally fantastic.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and I highly recommend it.

We got lucky in 2023 with the Imperial Hotel Tranmontano on the cliff-edge, overlooking the Bay. We were put in a top-floor room, sort of lower ceiling non-grandiose, but with a view across the Bay to Vesuvius and Naples. It was within your budget, but we were there one month earlier, end of March to beginning of April.

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Rivera in 2022. We had a room with huge balcony and incredible view. The hotel has a really good breakfast and has it's own beach which is reached by an elevator down through the cliff.
I can thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Aminta in Sorrento and it was great. It's just outside of town, on a hill with a beautiful view. The hotel offers a fairly constant shuttle service to and from Piazza Tasso and there is a walkable trail down the hill too.

Hotel il Nido!!!!! Been staying there for about a dozen years now. It's above the city, well served by a shuttle bus, amazing views, best restaurant (imho) in Sorrento, family owned/managed, comfortable and oh so very friendly!

View rooms can cost extra in Sorrento. Our choice may be out of your price range, but Rick used to describe the cliffside Ambasciatori Grande as "a worthwhile splurge." They had an annoying policy of issuing hotel-only promotional billing-credits, rather than discounting their own list prices.

We paid extra for a Vesuvius view and for a balcony. Nice pool deck, plus private wooden swimming platform in the Gulf of Naples, reached by hotel elevator. Icy air conditioning. Fairly long walk to restaurants, but normal city-dweller distance.

Some noise from ferry horns, some buzzing by seagulls.
