Favorite small villas or apartments in Umbria

Would love to hear if you've found a special place to stay in an Umbrian town. I've rented big villas and small apartments before, but this time I'm looking for something for a week for four friends in April. Will have a car. This will be a relaxed trip visiting different towns on day trips. A self-catering location in either a town or the countryside near a town will work. Two or three bedrooms and two baths. Appreciate your help!

This villa has several apartments. We stayed in the larger one last summer and it was so incredible we're considering returning instead of going somewhere new. Look at Casa del Poggio - it's the smaller unit with its own private pool. HIGHLY recommended.

Our family of 4 stayed at a lovely agriturismo, La Fornace, about 3 km outside of Assisi. www.lafornace.com We had the "poppies" apt which was 2 bedrms/2 bathrooms. Besides Assisi we easily visited Spello, Spoleto, Gubbio, Perugia, Todi, Bevagna, Montefalco and others. We were here in August and on Ferragosto day they put on a BBQ for all the guests which was really nice. They also have a nice pool. We did have a car too.

We just returned from a week at La Montagnola, an old estate that produces excellent olive oil. It's just outside of Torgiano, south of Perugia. We absolutely loved it. There were seven of us and we rented the hilltop house, Caprareccia. It's a spacious home divided into two equally lovely three bedroom apartments. All of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Since we rented the whole house, we had the hilltop with its views to Bettona and Assisi, as well as a pool, to ourselves. Vittoria Iraci Borgia, part of the family who owns the estate, very graciously manages the bookings for their accommodations. Wonderful communications, and they offer a very fun cooking class and tour of their olive oil mill if you're so inclined. Well situated for visiting a number of Umbrian hill towns. http://www.agriturismo-lamontagnola.umbria.it/lang/en/home.html

AS mentioned by Nelly. We stayed there twice. In a small town in Umbria. Easy train access to Rome. Close to Spoleto, Terni, Orte, Deruta, Assisi, even Orvieto. The Carsulae ruins are really cool and so is Montefalco.

Thank you all for your helpful posts! All look good. I spend hours searching rental websites but I have a huge level of trust in recommendations from travelers on this site! I'm sure one of these will be my final choice.
