favorite places to stay in Treviso or Padua

Hi everyone
We are going to be leaving SanCandido on 5 oct. and hope to travel to Treviso or Padua and use either as a base to explore those cities and Venice. We do not have a car rented.
We have never been in Treviso but understand its an interesting place.
We have been to Padua for one day last year and found it a very interesting place. We had an ok experience in a b&b kind of place but if we go back we don't want to stay there again. I'm thinking just from a transportation standpoint Treviso is a bit easier to get to from SanCandido than Padua.
So my questions are related to favorite places to stay .... and any suggested modes of travel from SanCandido to Treviso or Padua.
Thanks so much

Both are attractive cities. For best results when requesting hotel recommendations, please give us your hotel budget in euros per night.

About 200 ish euros per night. Our experience in most places seems to find us spending about that much. Not afraid to splurge a bit if there is something exceptional.
Thanks

just some sites with info to check out. we hired a private guide, oriana, for a prosecco tasting, small towns near treviso & along prosecco road, gorgeous views/hills and lunch at small family owned trattoria. was fabulous and she is great & speaks english well. born/raised/still lives there. interested (orianancc.it and [email protected]) she owns the company herself.
can't help about the travel, i think a train but will let others here help your more on that. good luck, have fun, enjoy

It was a while ago but we really liked the Hotel Al Cason in Padua. Family owned, very friendly and helpful people treated us with much kindness. Very close to the train station for easy day trips to.Venice, Verona and Vicenza. Not plush but comfortable. There is a restaurant as well that was quite convenient after a day of sight seeing. . Reasonably priced and good value for the money.

Safe travels.
