For a honeymoon I'd strongly recommend Hotel Garden. We stayed there a few trips back and it was lovely. Clean charming rooms atmospherical gardens and patios. Palazzo Bruchi is another favorite. A charming B and B in the historic district. Alma Domus is a nice budget choice--- we'll be staying there for a week in May.

Hi Shawn,
We liked staying at Albergo Bernini in Siena--it was a great place to stay but I'm not sure it's honeymoon quality! Here's the website--Albergo Bernini

If it's a place that you'd consider, tell them that it's your honeymoon and hopefully they will make sure you have the nicest room!

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Caterina in Feb'08 and are returning in 3 weeks. Nice, quiet hotel outside the Porta Roma. Since it was winter we had ate in the breakfast room but I'm looking forward to having my capuccino in the garden this time. The hotel was renovated within the last few years and everything is clean and fresh looking. Nice sized bathroom, tile floors, large armoire, comfortable bed - you won't think you're at the Holiday Inn. We just had a regular double room and it was lovely. Looking forward to returning.

The Palazzo Ravizza was very nice, especially if you get a room on the garden side -- overlooking the countryside. My wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon in '07, and would stay there again without hesitation.

shawn,

I'd also suggest Albergo Bernini, but you'll have to decide (given the occasion) whether you'd prefer a B&B or a more conventional Hotel (keeping your guideline of "not the most expensive, and not the cheapest" in mind).

Albergo Bernini is in a great location and the family that operates it are wonderful! It's located in a building that's hundred of years old, so it's got lots of character.

You might also have a look at the Italy Guidebook, as there are lots of listings there for various types of accommodation in Siena.

Congratulations and happy travels!
