Favorite part of Naples to stay - 3 nights in July???

I've read up on the different areas and I simply can't decide what area we would enjoy staying in the most. I'd love to hear what area and what accommodations you've stayed in and really loved and why. It will be my husband, myself and our 20 yo daughter. The dates are July 5 - 8th, 3 nights at the start of a month long trip (these bases: Positano/Ravello/Ishcia/Orvieto/San Gimignano/Florence/Venice.) We are open to any type accommodation: hotel rooms, B&B's or apartments. We are willing to spend UP TO $200 a night if it's a really great place (location/ambiance/style & cleanliness is next to godliness for me!!! I especially need nice beds/bed linens or I get uneasy! ) I can't decide if we'd enjoy being in the 'thick' of the historical center OR someplace quieter. In other places, I love the historic center, just not sure if I'll enjoy it in Naples. Did you? Except the museum with artifacts from Pompeii, I don't plan to spend much time inside museums. I mostly enjoy being out and about and enjoying street life, culture, food, and beauty (be it architectural or natural.) I do love beautiful gardens if there are any great ones worth visiting in Naples; I'd love to hear about them. I will be visiting both Villa Rufulo and Villa Ciambrone gardens in Ravello later in the trip. Any suggestions for great places to get pizza/pasta/bakeries are appreciated!

Other than seeing the Archaeology Museum in Naples, you may prefer to stay in Sorrento near the Centro Storico area which is charming. Choose a hotel which overlooks the Bay of Naples near the Villa Communale park. The sunsets are gorgeous and you could do a day trip to Capri and see the Gardens of Caesar Augustus.

If you are going to stay in Positano, I would not stay in Sorrento, which is too close in my opinion.
Naples itself is very charming, if occasionally overwhelming. A few years back (could be 10, but reviews still look good), I stayed at the 'Attico Partenopeo' B&B which was steps away from Via Toledo towards Piazza Plebiscito. Perfect location, not too gritty, and quiet despite being central.
An earlier stay at what is now the Ibis Styles near the main train station was definitely grittier and less recommended.

Edit: July is hot, so do check for A/C

Take a look at the Grand Hotel Oriente. grandhoteloriente.it

Great hotel, classy, great rooms and staff, top-floor restaurant, bar and terrace. I stayed there in 2019 on a RS tour - several steps above the normal RS tour hotel.

By all means stay in Naples. True it is a bit gritty and chaotic, but the food is fantastic, and it is a very different experience that say Sorrento. Much less touristy although there are plenty of tourists these days.

We recently stayed 3 nights in a B and B (Toledo Station) just off the Spanish Quarter. It's a small simple place , not fancy. Don't remember the linens so likely they were average. We loved the area and always felt safe, night and day. There are other places nearby. 3 nights gave us a good taste. We expect to be back for more !
