Hi Everyone
Any recommendations for hiking trails in Sicily other than Mt Etna? We love sea views with possible swimming opportunities along the way
Zingaro nature reserve, near San Vito lo copo. Bring a bathing suit.
Vendicari reserve
Scopello - not far from Palermo. On the coast. Beautiful views. Swimming spots.
Alcantara Gorge - River gorge, near Taormina. Swim in river.
Lots of trails in Madonie Mountains. Sea views. Not terribly far from coast and Cefalu, Castelbuono.
Riserva Monte Cofano near San Vito Lo Capo but a lot fewer people than Riserva dello Zingaro.
Hike up (or down) Trapani -Erice
How do I get to Alcantara River Gorge ? We would like to hike and take a swim. Sounds absolutely wonderful. I looked around on the internet trying to find a trailhead or starting point and didn’t see a place that would bring us to a swimming spot. Any help would be appreciated.
Riserva Monte Cofano sounds great! How do we get there ? Any fun little beaches to swim at? We don’t mind hiking 5 or 6 miles to get to a good spot.
About Monte Cofano, we parked in Baia di Cornino and just followed the path along the coast but you can do the loop mentioned here: https://it.wikiloc.com/percorsi-escursionismo/monte-cofano-periplo-e-grotta-mangiapane-64655405
Wikiloc in general is good for hiking routes
The bit of coast you get to once you've walked round Monte Cofano has some sandy bits, not quite sure about swimming, because there are a lot of rocks. I remember I paddled and sunbathed.
For swimming, go as far as San Vito lo Capo. The beach and sea there are absolutely splendid!
