With literally hundreds of possibilities, I am looking for the impossible. A roughly 5 mile hike with meadow, views, forest and a hut for refreshments. Any suggestions? I'm in my 70's so it can't be too strenuous but I'm in good shape. Thanks.

Go to Ortisei and take the lifts up either side of the valley where the town is located. Gorgeous hiking. Castelrotto is fairly near Ortisei.

What Suki said. Eg. from Ortisei take the Seceda lift and walk/hike down to Col Reiser <5 miles. There are several rifugi for that pause that refreshes. Loads of options in Val Gardena.
