Favorite Eats Positano and Sorrento

Going to be taking off for a first visit to Rome and then the coast. Anybody have a favorite place to eat in either Positano or Sorrento. Thanks.

An idea of your budget would help because a couple of my favourite splurges are a bit on the pricey side.

All price ranges would be great. Will have a splurge budget for some good eats.
Thanks.

Use tripadvisor in Italian with ratings and reviews by Italians. Or read only the opinions of Italians using the auto translate option. Sorry but I can't go by the advice of restaurants by the many Britons who visit there. British people were born without tasting buds :-) http://www.tripadvisor.it/Restaurants-g194863-Positano_Amalfi_Coast_Campania.html http://www.tripadvisor.it/Restaurants-g187782-Sorrento_Province_of_Naples_Campania.html

In Sorrento I had two excellent dinners at Delfinos. Good food, service, and location (Marina Grande). I'd recommend the spaghetti vongole (clams) and cozze (mussels).

Ditto on Defino's in Sorrento. Had one of our best meals there. Their seafood risotto is great. Service was excellent. Rated #2 on TripAdvisor the last time I checked.

Though I don't know you, Positano will be your new favorite place on the planet. The whole town is pretty pricey now, but every bite you put in your mouth is worth it. Surprisingly, even locals eat at the restaurants right on the beach, so don't feel that you're just another tourist paying through the nose for a good meal with the best view. Le Tre Sorelle and La Cambusa are my favorites in town, along with the small Deli just next to the church. Chez Black is the most "famous" and nearly every famous person that comes to town eats there.
Have a great time!!

Despite being a Brit and therefore having no idea about Italian food or taste buds, I will still tell you about some of our favourite splurges in the area. They all provide modern Italian cooking using locally sourced traditional ingredients. First, the "Taverna del Capitano" in the scenic fishing village of Marina del Cantone, there is a bus service from Sorrento. Go for lunch so you can enjoy the view and relax on their beach afterwards. Some people do find it a bit formal. There are other popular and cheaper restaurants in the village but have not eaten at them so cannot comment. http://www.tavernadelcapitano.it/intro_en.htm Second, "Il Buco" in Sorrento. Attentive but not in your face service. Very relaxed atmosphere for a Michelin starred resto. Booking for dinner advised. http://www.ilbucoristorante.it/?lang=en Third, the "Antico Francischiello" which is located between Sorrento and Massa Lubrense. Family run and with one of the best views in the area, from Capri right round to Vesuvius. We like to go for Sunday lunch and always book to make sure we get a window table. Bus service from Sorrento which runs every 20 minutes. http://www.francischiello.com/index.php?lng=en Finally, less expensive and a mixture of traditional and modern cooking styles "Re Foods" in the old town area of Sorrento. http://www.refoods.it/en/

Can't agree more about Delfino's. Great location, food, service. A real gem. The Eggplant parmigiano was excellent and so were the mussels. You won't be disappointed.
