What are your favorite things to see/ do in Cinque Terre? Which town do you ilke best? I'm excited to be there in May!
Meghan,
Each of the towns have a somewhat different character, but I enjoyed my stay in Riomaggiore. I used Mar-Mar Rooms and was very pleased with the accommodations.
As the previous reply mentioned, either hiking the trails or just relaxing are good activities for that area. As the C.T. tends to be a somewhat "busy" tourist area, some of the restaurants can be a bit pricey.
Happy Travels!
Thanks! Anywhere I should steer clear of?
I can't wait to hike the towns and relax in the sun... I need to get out of rainy Boston!
I'm hoping to do Angelo's Boat Tour in April but their season doesn't officially start until May so I am not sure. It sounds like a really amazing way to spend the afternoon or evening!
My two favorite things in CT were hiking the trail and sitting on the terrace at my B&B (Manuel's Guesthouse) while drinking a beer and talking with fellow travelers.
Last May we stayed in Vernazza at Vernazza Camere Giuliano, (39) 333 341 4792, 0187-821052, e-mail: [email protected]
Small guest house up the hill from the train station, just 3-4 rooms. Hand-built by the husband, Giuliano, and his wife Michelle, from the US, tends to the guests. A good restaurant we enjoyed there is "The 2 Pirates", also up the hill from the train, run by twin brothers that are a laugh riot. The food's pretty good too!
We walked between all the hill towns in one long day, with some time spent sunning on the beach in Monterossa. If you get tired, you can always take the little train back to your base. Favorite memories were buying a fresh-squeezed lemonade from a vendor along the trail, sampling the limoncello liquor, and trying all the various flavors of gelato. Great photo opportunities too: especially the local cats curled up in the small fishing boats in the harbor.
Have a great trip!
