My wife and I will be in Tuscanny/Umbria for at least 4-5 days this fall(oct8). I haver been searching for agriturismo's to stay in, and I must say that there are many to choose from. I would really like to have some recomendations from those of you who have been there and had a really over the top stay. even if your experience was not something to write home about, please let me know. A bad report is just as important as a good one. I am really looking forward to reading your experiences, and will thank you in advance! Jeff Masters.
What is your budget? Do you want breakfast and restaurant or self-catering? Those are very different requirements.
We were looking for an agriturismo in the Chianti area for max. 20 Euro/person/night. Self-catering (of course we bought wine and olive oil produced at the farm), washing machine and with swimming pool. And we got it and for what we paid for Podere Pogetto was absolutely perfect. I'd certainly recommend it to anybody with similar requirements.
But if you have a larger budget and are looking for meals this would be the wrong place to go.
Without question, Agriturismo Cretaiole in Pienza. Requires 7-day stay (Sat-Sat). Read the Tripadvisor reviews and search the Italian Agriturismo blog on this site.
