Fast trains from Rome to Naples

I am looking at train schedules and tickets for a day trip to Naples from Rome in late November (Nov 24 or 25). Is there a reason why the high-speed train tickets are unavailable? I have tried several sites (Trenitalia, Rail Europe, other consolidators) and none of them have the early AM Frecce trains available for purchase. The hour travel time would be nice to shave off an already long day.

Could they really be sold out this early or am I missing something?

I am seeing at least 2-3 trains per hour, some under €10; are you using the calendar on the Trenitalia site?

I am. I can see the 7:35 train (arr Napoli at 8:45) but there is a shopping cart with a circle/slash through it in the last column and no prices are given.

It actually goes all the way to the end of the summer schedule period Dec 10, and starts sometime in late September. Scheduled overnight line maintenance?

Perhaps. Doesn't seem to be one fast earlier AM train while we are there. Not the worst thing in the world - we're still going to Italy!

I used Italo when traveling from Naples to Rome last year. It was quite comfortable. I checked for trains, and it seems the earliest departure for Nov. 25 is 10:23, one way. The prices started at €26.90.

I checked again, went as far as putting in credit card info for Nov 24, Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale, for €9.90, super economy; stopped purchase at that point.

I think that was an IC train. Those are still operating in the early morning. Also, it looks like Freccia trains are still operating in the morning in the opposite direction.

Overnight maintenance seems to make the most sense. Oh well, the joys of traveling off-season. At least it's cheap!
