Fast train from Rome to Florence

I'm interested in the fast 1 1/2 hour train from Rome to Florence. I looked on the trenitalia website and there isn't any tickets available for the 0755 train anymore. Does that mean that train is completely full? Can I buy tickets when I get to italy next week and buy it at the termini train station? The only times available on the website for may 18 for the morning are 0625 and then next at 1225.

They are not sold out. That never happens. What are sold out are the Economy tickets or the SuperEconomy tickets, but the full "Base" fare (for 43 Euro) is still available in all trains. They never run out of full fare "base" seats. There is no reason to pre purchase a full fare "Base" ticket, you can buy on the spot when you get there, it has never happened to me that they run out of those even minutes before departure. There are so many trains going between Rome and Florence, that even if they sell out a train completely, there will be another one with seats available within 30 min.

I checked the other days and there were more am time options than on that saturday 18 may. is there a reason for that? 0625 is the only morning one I see from roma termini to firenze sm novella. I'm assuming that I can't buy online anyway since I'm still in the states and don't have a european credit card. so you're saying that I can most likely find a time around 0800 leaving from rome to florence? Should I buy it the day of or a day before since I'll be in rome four days prior.

I'm on the trenitalia site now and I see all trains available for May 18 in the morning. Not one is sold out and there is one every 20-30 min. The one at 6:25 is the only one in the morning with Economy tickets still available, but at full (Base) price, they are all available. I've never purchased ahead of time and I've gone back and forth before Rome and Florence many times, including almost every year in the last 25 years. You can certainly purchase the day before when you are there or even now (the website accepts US based credit cards), but I've never had the need because trains between Rome and Florence always have available seats and therefore I usually purchase the tickets at the automatic machines when I get to the station. If you want discounted tickets you should buy them as soon as possible (the one at 6:25 am has some available), but discounted (Economy or Super Economy) tickets have restrictions. They are not changeable nor refundable, therefore you must be sure to make that train or you lose the money. I've never done it, because I usually go from/to Rome/Florence and back with not too much planning ahead of time, and by that time all discounted tickets are gone. Most of the times those trains are half empty.

great I see it now. Not sure why I didn't see the other morning times earlier. It looks like there is a special 2 for 1 deal. only 43E for 2 people. Is that only for booking online? If so I think I might try to book online if I can. thanks for you help!
