Hello,
Can anyone give me some insight into the fast track service option at FCO...apparently this can reduce the time it takes to get through passport control. I've not heard of this before, but noticed this on the Trenitalia site while looking into the Leonardo express train into Rome. It seems like you purchase this upon arrival to FCO ??
Thanks,
Bill
You are going to have to provide more information or a web address. Not sure why or how the immigration process and train could be tied together. Unless there has been major changes in the immigration process, you just walk through passage ways from the plane to immigration. No place to buy anything.
PS - Just found it on the Trenitalia web site. It is for going from Rome to Terminal 3 and refers to exit passport control. Has nothing to do with arriving in Rome and immigration (passport control). There are some changes being make in how international travel to the US is being handled. Before you have to go through processing in Terminal 5 but now Terminal 5 is being remodeled so departures are now handled through Terminal 3. It often was a zoo in Terminal 5 so it looks like you can buy a fast track through immigration for terminal 3. No experience with new system.
Frank, it looks like this is what Bill is talking about (scroll down to "Special Offers"). I'm not sure how it works.

This is from the Fiumicino Aeroporto website:
http://www.adr.it/en/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en-/pax-fco-train
"Discounts at the airport for those travelling on the Leonardo Express
If you buy your Leonardo Express ticket on-line on www.trenitalia.com from today it will be possible to further speed up security by using the Terminal 3 Fast Track service, at the discounted price of 4 instead of 5 euro. Just show a printed copy of the Leonardo Express ticket purchased online - valid for the day - to the operator of the T3 Aeroporti di Roma Info Point, to get an immediate discount of 20%."
Those links were very helpful, thanks. I was thinking the fast track might be something akin to the Global Traveler option we have in the USA. So far I'm not sure how well this particular Fast track service works as the details are a little sketchyon those sites. Whisking me from the gate to customs looks nice, but does it really get me through customs faster ?
I'll continue to look into it - Thanks
Bill
Why are you in such a hurry? Passport control takes seconds and lines are rarely long.
Customs is just a walk through the green line.
What takes long is waiting for luggage at the baggage claim.
For some reason I have the bad luck to get stranded for what seems like forever going through customs.....In Paris and Vienna in particular...although I guess it could have been jet lag kicking in.
It sounds like the process at FCO is not too bad.
Thanks !
