Fast Track-FCO

Has anyone used the fast track service at FCO? I read the info on the airport website but am unclear as to what line it expedites. It is quite inexpensive at 7 Euros.

Thank you, Joe, yes I read that but have you used this service? I should have clarified: Does that mean passport check or some other kind of security check after passport check? Also, is this only for arrival? I plan on using the egates for my passport.

No personal experience; I read it to be a special short line at security screening to get to the departure gates. If you are arriving in Rome I do not think it applies.

Hopefully someone who has been through FCO, and used the service can address your question in detail.

I have not used this service. But to take the site at its written word, it does say security line, not immigration. So it can only be for departure, not arrival, as you only go through to security for departures.

Your post doesn’t mention whether you are arriving or departing, and from or to where. So I’ll throw out a tip and I apologize if it doesn’t match your situation. If you are departing from FCO to a destination in Europe, you will leave from Terminal 1. Terminal 1 recently got upgraded security scanners and it runs like greased lightning. You do not take off shoes, belts or anything else. You do not empty water bottles. You do not remove electronics or liquids from your bags. You scan your boarding pass to enter the security line, zip through it and move on to airside. No one asks for your passport until you are boarding at your gate. So for Terminal 1 departures, Fast Track buys you nothing. I have literally moved from getting off the bus, into the terminal, through security and to my gate in 15 minutes. For three separate departures this year.

If you are flying from FCO to a non-European destination, you will leave from Terminal 3. The new scanners have not yet been installed due to some concerns from TSA about lack of screening of passengers headed into the U.S. So Fast Track through security might not hurt.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Nelly for your comprehensive reply! I am both arriving from the US to FCO and departing FCO back to the US and will be leaving FCO from terminal 3. So, unfortunately, my security will not be as speedy, so I will use the FAST pass.

Hello Rozan, I'm curious to know if you used the Fast Track service at FCO and if so, how was it?

Hi S Bee, no I did not use the FastTrack service as there were no lines to contend with. For reference, I arrived in late September and left 2 weeks later in early October both morning flights.

We used the Fast Track lane departing FCO in early January just for security and it saved us quite a bit of time judging by the other lines. We used our UA gold memberships, just showed the agent our app page with Gold membership, she had to enter details by hand to let us through the gantry. Note we were in Terminal 1, flying intra-Schengen so I'm not familiar with the US departure terminal, it might work the same. If you can pay 7 euros ahead of time, why not? Please let us know how it works! I am not aware of a way for US citizens arriving directly from the US to go through what is basically the EU-citizens automatic gate let's call it, where you scan your passport.

I arrived at FCO on the ITA nonstop from Los Angeles back in November. From the E terminal we followed the signs to exit and were guided to the US passport line, which used the E-gate passport scanners - no waiting.

My departure back to LA was also on ITA, which required check-in at the ITA desks in Terminal 1. There appeared to be a separate security area for US departures - very efficient and virtually no wait at 6:45.

Excellent! That's wonderful news... so the OP's question with the 7 Euro charge must be for expedited security leaving, if not flying business class or having some sort of priority access through an airline?
