Ferrari Museum

My husband and I are traveling through Italy for 3 weeks, beginning our trip in Venice for 3 nights then traveling down to the Tuscany area, but first we are planning on a night around Molinella so we can go to the Ferrari Museum. Has anyone stayed in this area before? Or do you recommend a day trip and then continue to Tuscany the same day? Thanks

I believe you mean Maranello. We stayed in a small town some distance away because we were on a hiking trip, but I can recommend Pizzeria La Bufala as having one of the best pizzas I've eaten outside of Rome. The museum is fabulous and will take 2 hours or so, so you can easily move on to your next destination unless your husband requires more time in the museum or plans to drive a Ferrari.

Just go to Booking.com and put the desired town in. Or use Modena--Ferrari's home town. It's a shame the Ferrari factory doesn't any longer offer a factory tour unless you're purchasing one of their "works of art."
If you have a car, why don't you also take in the Lamborghini factory that's also close by--but out in the country?
Northern Italy has a number of really incredible manufacturing companies for auto components and motorcycles.

Since they've opened a satellite museum in Modena near the train station, you may want more time to visit both. Staying in Modena puts you close to that facility as well as a historic town center. The atmosphere you find in the surrounding area is both more modern and more rural.

Note that what they call the Factory Tour in Maranello doesn't go into any building, factory or otherwise, but is a lunchtime bus ride onto the test track and around the engineering offices. During other hours, you can hear faster cars on the test track.

I've been in the area for 5 months. I'm actually in Vignola which is quite close to Maranello and Modena. There is a nice small hotel here. The countryside here is beautiful. It is now cherry season and all the festivities are starting. The Ferrari museum in Modena is good to visit but I really liked the Lamborghini factory tour. You can do both in one day but need reservations for Lamborghini. I'm not a car enthusiast but I really enjoyed Lamborghini.

Thanks for all the great feedback you guys, I really appreciate it. I didn't know about the Lamborghini museum, and thank you for the correction on its location....Maranello. It will probably end up a day trip from Tuscany, but the pizza suggestion is now a MUST!! Thanks everyone, this is a great website.
