I have been looking for a farm house ( in the Tuscany area)that is fairly reasonable in price.I do not need an apt,pool,sauna etc..Aworking farm that is clean and comfortable with good food. What I have found so far is really over the top. Any suggestions

I suggest you look somewhere other then the Tuscany area. Now( last 15 yrs or so) that there are so many books, magazine articles and movies about Tuscany,, everyone wants to find a lovely rustic farmhouse and have a wonderful " Tuscan interlude" LOL The locals aren't stupid.. they like money too, they are not just renting out their summer homes to be nice,, LOL
Explore some other regions and I think you will find a simple house will be priced alot more reasonalbe.

Hi Pat,
I am not sure what you consider expensive or where in Tuscany you want to stay, but I have stayed at Cetinelle outside of Greve and it was wonderful. http://www.cetinelle.com/ You will want a car if you stay here (or in most agriturismos) as it is about 8-10 minute drive from town. Take a look at agriturismo.net and tripadvisor.com too.

We rented through www.interchalet.com and found a lovely place in Tuscany that was the cheapest for us during our trip through Italy - including pool (110 euro/night for SIX of us). But as mentioned by a previous poster most places are a bit more remote and do require a car. And not all places offer food, most I've seen are self-catering but with well equipped kitchen facilities.

Hi Pat - I've booked a little farmhouse called Fonte Dei Tufi, not an Agriturismo, just outside of Siena for late October. We're paying 95 Euro per night for a triple room with ensuite bathroom, including breakfast. It's run by 2 sisters - no pool, no sauna & looks clean & comfortable. We have stayed at Il Canto del Sole, about 10 km south of Siena, and LOVED it. Wonderful reviews both on Rick Steves and www.tripadvisor.com.
