I am trying to book train from Florence to Camogli and found the time and day I want, and when reading the "fare details", it states "reservation not included" on one leg of the trip from Florence to Pisa. I am not sure what this means. Am trying to purchase ticket before I depart on July 16. Thank you for any clarification on the train schedule.
What website are you using? If you were trying to purchase tickets on the official Trenitalia website the price would include any required reservations, so maybe you're using a reseller website.
Florence to Pisa service is by non-reservable regional train. Just take any seat you find onboard (in the right class of service).
Thank you for your reply. Now I understand and that makes sense. Was using the Rick Steves train site .
Martha, use the Trenitalia (Italian Railways) website: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html
"Firenze S. M. Novella" to "Camogli-S. Fruttuoso" costs €18.90. As it is a Regionale train there is no discount for buying in advance and no reserved seats. Buy when you get to Italy, and don't forget to stamp your ticket (validate)
Thank you and this helps immensely.
Martha
So for a little more clarity.........My husband and I traveling from Florence to Camogli on Saturday, July 20 which will be a very busy time. If we wait and purchase train tickets when there, is there a chance trains may be full and we can not travel on that day? We know we want to depart Florence by 10 am.

Martha, the trains don't work like that. Tickets for Regionale trains are valid on any train for any seat. You just get on and sit in any empty seat you like. There is absolutely no check before getting on a train and no reserved seats.
Think of it like a lift (elevator) in a big building, you just get on and find a free space, that's all. They provide sufficient capacity for whoever might turn up. Worst case (unlikely) you just stand until a seat becomes free. Buying a ticket early makes absolutely no difference to the availabilty of seats.
