Fantastic Italian Movie on Netflix

I just wanted to share an absolutely wonderful movie on Netflix. It is called "The Children's Train" (Il Treno dei Bambini). It is a touching Italian, historical drama set in post-World War II Naples. The movie's message is heartbreakingly beautiful. You follow the journey of a young Napolitano boy who is sent North (near Modena) to be kept safe during this difficult time in Italy. Just make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. It is in Italian with subtitles but is very easy to follow. Molto bene!!! Don't miss it!

Oh yes, lovely story! And a great chance to practice listening to Italian, with the safety net of Italian subtitles.

Yes, besides being a lovely movie -- you do have the side benefit of practicing your Italian! The film is also interesting from the standpoint of language as the young boy, from Naples, is speaking a different dialect from those in his new Northern home. He is instructed to speak slowly so that he can be more easily understood.

CWSocial, I love the way you put it about practicing Italian but with a safety net of subtitles!

If you want to learn a language you shouldn't have subtitles in English. You'll end up reading the English subtitles and tune out what you're hearing.

It is actually better to have subtitles in Italian (so you learn the spelling of what is being said) or not at all.

That was my strategy to learn English during my youth. It works.
