Fano, Italy

Fano is a seacoast town in Le Marche, not too far from Urbino, which you should definitely include, if you visit the area. A map that I have shows airports at Venice, Ancona, Bologna, as well as Fano, itself. The map also shows super highway connections between Fano and Venice and Fano and Bologna. Ancona is pretty close. I expect the weather is much like what you would find elsewhere on that coast; quite warm in the summer and very pleasant, spring and fall. I think we were in Le Marche in the spring; and it was warm, but not so much so that you'd want to throw yourself into the sea. You should be aware that in August, especially, it would be packed with beach-loving vacationers.

There's no bad time to visit Italy, although winters can be pretty dead in the beach towns. The Fano Tourist Office and Michelin Guides may have some tips you can use.
