I'm planning on taking a family trip to Venice with my three sistersa and Mom. Can anybody give me suggestions on the best time to go and where to stay? This is my mom's dream vacation and I really would like to make it memorable for her. Thanks! :0)
Kim: you really want to go while the weather is still warm. Summer is very hot and humid and very crowded. The crowds thin out around 5:00 as most of the day trippers return to their cruise ships or hotels on Mestre. Evening is wonderful in Venice as you basically have the place to yourself. September/October would be good as well. Less crowds than the summer months and a little cooler with less humidity. I always use a wonderful website when ever I go to Rome, Venice or Florence. It is www.cross-pollinate.com It is a bed and breakfast and apartment booking service that is owned and operated by an American couple living in Rome. You can find B&B's for singles to quads. The prices are great and usually include breakfast. It is much better that staying in a hotel. Check them out, I'm sure you will find them very helpful. Have a great trip and I would definitely shoot for the early fall for your trip. Happy Travels!!!
We stayed at Al Gazzettino. It was beautiful with a good location.
